But how far could it have been (too soon?)
Brooke Shields was originally set to play the lead role in the movie A League of Their Own. Shields was written out (something to do with a writers strike) and was replaced by Debra Winger. Madonna was cast a few days before filming was to begin. Winger, complaining of “stunt casting,” backed out, and the part went to Geena Davis.
As it turns out, Winger was right to complain. Madonna was “miserable” on the set. She wrote to her friend, “I cannot suffer any more than I have in the past month, learning how to play baseball with a bunch of girls (yuk) in Chicago (double yuk). I have a tan, I’m dirty all day, and I hardly ever wear make up. Penny Marshall, Lavern (sic), Geena Davis is a Barbie Doll, and when God decided where the beautiful men were going to live in the world, he did not choose Chicago. I have made a few friends but they are athletes, not actresses. They have nothing on the house of extravaganza. I wish I could come to N.Y.”
Even with Madonna and without Winger, movie went on to be a success. Funny thing, this isn’t the first time Debra Winger turned down roles and the movie was successful. It wasn’t even the first time Winger turned down a role relating to Shields or Davis!
Per IMDB:
She [Winger] became notorious for turning down worthy roles in many popular films, such as Jodie Foster’s roles in Taxi Driver (1976), The Accused (1988) and The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Brooke Shields’ roles in Pretty Baby (1978) and The Blue Lagoon (1980), Daryl Hannah’s role in Splash (1984), Linda Hamilton’s role in The Terminator (1984), Kathleen Turner’s role in Peggy Sue Got Married (1986), Susan Sarandon’s role in Bull Durham (1988), Michelle Pfeiffer’s role in The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989), Jessica Lange’s role in Music Box (1989), Julia Roberts’ role in Pretty Woman (1990), Demi Moore’s role in Ghost (1990), Geena Davis’ roles in Thelma & Louise (1991) A League of Their Own (1992), Sharon Stone’s role in Basic Instinct (1992), Meg Ryan’s role in Sleepless in Seattle (1993), Sandra Bullock’s role in Speed (1994/I) and Nicole Kidman’s role in To Die For (1995).
Lastly, there was a League of Their Own TV show. They got a whopping 4 people to reprise their role in the film. The show was, “quickly canceled.”
Well, he was a phony, but now he’s less of one, I guess. Let me explain.
Former Marine Drew Carey (the signature crew cut hair style is from his Marine days), at some point, had refractive surgery to correct his eyesight. His signature glasses worn in public are a prop used so people recognize him. Though, the joke is on him because as he is getting older, he really does need bifocals.
Other Drew-trivia:
The Drew Carey Show was on for 9 seasons / 233 episodes.
He hosted the American version of “Whose Line is it Anyway?” for 215 episodes.
He is fiscally conservative and considers himself a libertarian.
He is a minor owner in a Seattle Major League Soccer team.
He is a fan of The Sims and had a cameo in the House Party expansion
pack… if you threw a successful party, Drew would arrive to the party
in a limo. And April Fools episode of The Drew Carey Show had a scene
that takes place completely within The Sims.
He is not as good as Bob Barker.

I debated about posting this one, since I kind of hate to waste the time and energy, but, oh well.
Personally, I think Roseanne stopped being funny around Season 4 of her sitcom, but apparently she is still continuing to try to be “edgy.”
And what’s funnier or edgier than dressing up like Hitler and eating burnt Jew Cookies for a photo shoot for a Jewish “satire” magazine?
(Side note- wasn’t hilarious Jew Al Franken trying to rebrand himself as a “satirist?” That word… I don’t think it means what you think it means…)
Anyway, here are the pictures. Judge for yourself. Edgy? Or just stupid?
If Marilyn Manson doesn’t like this post, he’s gonna git me!
He recently posted on My Space (My Space is so 2008!):
“If one more ‘journalist’ makes a cavalier statement about me and my band, I
will personally or with my fans’ help, greet them at their home and discover
just how much they believe in their freedom of speech,”
“I dare you all to write one more thing that you won’t say to my face. Because I will make you say it. In that manner. That is a threat.”
Manson, whose career was one of the casualties of Columbine, is apparently A) in a band and B) is still talked about in the media.

Teen actor Jamie Waylett, who plays Vincent Crabbe in the Harry Potter movies, admitted to growing marijuana in a London court, the AP reports. Police reportedly found eight bags of pot during a search of a car in which the 19-year-old Waylett was riding. By pleading guilty to producing cannabis, Waylett faces a maximum of 14 years in jail. He’s due to be sentenced on July 21.
Also, it’s old news, but Ron ate a bad ham samm’ich and got the Miss Piggy disease.

While looking up pictures of Mary Ann from Gilligan’s Island to see if Ed’s claims that she is hot are true, I found this article. It’s old news, but new to me:
‘Gilligan’s’ Mary Ann Caught With DopeDRIGGS, Idaho — Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann on “Gilligan’s Island,” is serving six months’ unsupervised probation after allegedly being caught with marijuana in her car. She was sentenced Feb. 29 to five days in jail, fined $410.50 and placed on probation after pleading guilty to one count of reckless driving. Under a plea agreement, three misdemeanor counts driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance were dropped.
To answer some related questions, yes, Mary Ann does look a bit like Dorothy, and, yes, Mary Ann was hot.
For quite some time. (It was during her cone boob phase)
They parted ways when she published her book Sex, which included a partially nude Ice.
She failed to consult him prior to the publication.

Note: For hilar-factor I tried to include an Amazon link to Sex, but alas, it’s not for sale from the official store, so no dice.
Bob Barker was trained as a fighter pilot for the Navy during WWII. He completed his training (which included air craft carrier landing training in the Great Lakes), and was in a fighter pool ready to deploy, but the war ended before he was assigned to a seagoing squad.
Other interesting Barker Trivia… he is 1/8 Native American on his mother’s side.
Lastly, he is supposed to make a guest appearance on The Price is Right today (4/16/09). If anyone reads this before the show comes on, watch it and comment on it for us.
