The man in charge says he’s open to the idea.

Blogs are bad, you see
:

“I am concerned that if the direction of the news is all blogosphere, all opinions, with no serious fact-checking, no serious attempts to put stories in context, that what you will end up getting is people shouting at each other across the void but not a lot of mutual understanding,” he [Obama] said.

In the meantime, the Washington Post, one of those “respected?” members of the legacy media, had to backtrack on a made up quote today.

The reason? One of those pesky blogs called them on it.

So yeah, by all means, throw some money at the problem. It seems to be working for the auto industry.

This, I believe, falls under the purview of The Irony Czar.

The latest report found that “the Energy Department failed in many cases to use controls on heating, ventilation and air conditioning that are a primary means of conserving energy during non-working hours,” as Dow Jones Newswires put it. That could have cost the DOE more than $11 million.

In May, government inspectors found the Energy Department tended to leave computer monitors on, wasting electricity worth more than $1 million a year. The White House has trouble with energy efficiency as well.

This is old news (from July), but came up today when Obama’s Energy Secretary called us all a bunch of unruly teenagers. No really, he did.

When it comes to greenhouse-gas emissions, Energy Secretary Steven Chu sees Americans as unruly teenagers and the Administration as the parent that will have to teach them a few lessons.

Speaking on the sidelines of a smart grid conference in Washington, Dr. Chu said he didn’t think average folks had the know-how or will to to change their behavior enough to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said. “The American public has to really understand in their core how important this issue is.” (In that case, the Energy Department has a few renegade teens of its own.)

To paraphrase Moe Lane, this is why you don’t see too many scientists in the government.

President Obama has ordered a review of the US Nuclear Weapons arsenal, and predictably, wants to shrink it.

Because, you know, they are his. No really. They are. Remember, He Won.

The review is due to be completed by the end of this year, and European officials say the outcome is not yet clear. But one official said: “Obama is now driving this process. He is saying these are the president’s weapons, and he wants to look again at the doctrine and their role.”

We’ll just put that one in the “Imagine if George Bush had said it file.”

At the rate things are going, I’d be surprised if he didn’t just load up a boat of nukes and hand them over to Iran, you know, as a peace offering.

I’m done with Google.

I was already annoyed on 9/11.

First they didn’t change their logo to commemorate the anniversary, again, then they notified me that “today is a day for service” and offered me links to help President Feckless carry out his shameful day of service crap.

That was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

But then came the Google Updater that felt the need to install itself.

So now the camel’s pretty much dead.

So, it’s over. It will be a slow migration, but I’ve already added Bing to my shortcut bar, which is taking some getting used to.

Since I decided to get into the web hosting game, I’m planning to buy a domain name and move my email there. Any of you loyal readers who want web based email at my new domain are welcome.

And I’ll move the blog over to a new name/location at some point too. Hopefully I can take my content with me.

Now I need to find alternatives to the other Google stuff I use.

  • Google Reader – Looking for a decent RSS reader. Preferably web based.
  • iGoogle – Some type of aggregator/control panel like thing. Maybe I’ll build my own at my new domain. That could be cool.
  • Google Voice Chat – Yeah, there’s skype, but anything else out there I should be looking at?
  • Maps – The new version of maps on Bing looks pretty good. It should suffice.

So, I’m taking suggestions for product alternatives, new blog names, and an email domain. Ideas? Post in the comments, or shoot me a gmail. While I’m still there.

via Ace, The Washington Post casually mentions this in paragraph four of a story about the White House getting ready to get tough on critics…

When critics lashed out at President Obama for scheduling a speech to public school students this month, accusing him of wanting to indoctrinate children to his politics, his advisers quickly scrubbed his planned comments for potentially problematic wording. They then reached out to progressive Web sites such as the Huffington Post, liberal bloggers and Democratic pundits to make their case to a friendly audience.

Emphasis mine.

So there you go. He had a different message planned, but scrapped it after the critics called him on it in advance.

Sure, it’s just a trade war, but damaging nonetheless.

Ed over at Hot Air notes that President Feckless is channeling his inner Herbert Hoover and ignoring the lessons of history by slapping tariffs on imports during a recession.

That was Hoover’s plan, and he led us into a little thing called The Great Depression. But I’m sure it will be better this time.

Just wanted you to be aware. Any and all criticism of President Barack Obama is racist in nature.

Republican Congressman Joe Wilson shouted “You Lie” at the President the other day. He apologized. The President accepted his apology.

That, however, was not good enough. You see, the stakes are much higher:

Making an obvious reference to the Ku Klux Klan, Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., said Tuesday that people will be putting on “white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside” if emerging racist attitudes, which he says were subtly supported by Wilson, are not rebuked. He said Wilson must be disciplined as an example.

So, as the man himself says so often, let me be clear:

  • Calling the President a liar, even when he is lying – racist.
  • Quoting the constitution – racist.
  • Wanting smaller government and/or attending a protest – racist.
  • Objecting to a government takeover of health care – racist.
  • Not wanting government funds going to a group that systemically suborns child prostitution – racist.
  • Anything Keith Olbermann objects to – racist.
  • Repeatedly calling the President feckless on your low traffic blog – obviously racist. It has nothing to do with his weak ass foreign policy, and everything to do with the fact that his father was from Kenya. You got me.

Picture totally and unabashedly ripped off from Ace.

Important Update: Not 10 minutes after posting this did Drudge post this gem from my second favorite feckless President.

Kanye West is a Jackass.

See, I can admit when the President does something right.

I haven’t seen Igor since my junior year of high school. I was pleasantly surprised to see his picture on the intertubes this morning.

The above picture is from the Health Insurance Reform Rally in Minneapolis on Saturday. Note that all of the people in the photo are standing.

We all knew that, but I thought this kind of corruption only happened in Mexico or other reprehensible places, not in Massachusetts (unless you are a Kennedy).

No one has been a more uncritical cheerleader for the Obama administration than liberal blogger Andrew Sullivan. Now, Sullivan has gotten his reward, courtesy of Obama’s Department of Justice.

Sullivan was caught smoking marijuana in a National Park and was prosecuted, consistent with the usual policy of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts. But Sullivan’s pull with the Obama administration got him a sweetheart deal: the U.S. Attorney decided to drop the charges, even though there evidently is no doubt about Sullivan’s guilt. The issue here isn’t whether marijuana possession should be illegal, or should be prosecuted. It is illegal, and the U.S. Attorney in Massachusetts does routinely prosecute such cases. But not Sullivan: Barack Obama and Eric Holder paid him off for his slavish devotion.

The judge in the case is not happy. When he tried questioning the US Attorney about the case, he was told that he “had no power to inquire why the U.S. Attorney had decided to have the charge dismissed.”

I think Power Line gets it right…

What is going on here is that Barack Obama’s Justice Department is rewarding a faithful political supporter by quashing a criminal prosecution that could adversely affect Sullivan’s application for U.S. citizenship. In less than eight months, President Obama has corrupted the Department of Justice to a degree that has not been seen in our lifetimes, if ever. In Obama’s Justice Department, the type of justice you get depends on how valuable you are to the Democratic Party.
