Welcome to the premier blog about… well, whatever we want it to be about.
The point is to Learn Something New Every Day. It’s not always useful information. But at least it’s interesting.
How it Works
There are three categories:
- Headlines – Interesting News Stories.
- Learn Something New – Posts about something the author learned. Whatever that may be.
- Politics / Commentary – A place to vent.
Who We Are
Well, I’m Jeff. I own the place. The vast majority of the posts are from me.
But I’ve invited a select group of my favoritest people to contribute too. You’ll see them from time-to-time. I love it when others post.
We don’t all agree on everything. That’s what makes it fun.
Some of the posters used to be commenters. If you are a good commenter, maybe someday you can post too. And I know you’ve always dreamed of posting on the #2,252,234 site on the internet.
Why are there no ads?
I made about $2.32 in revenue on the last version of this site. So, when we redesigned I decided to skip the ads. I may offer up the occasional Amazon link. Or maybe not.
Site History
This site started as all good ideas do – half baked. I wanted to try this blogging thing that I kept hearing about, and gathered up a group to start a project to Learn Something New Every Day. Much to our surprise, more than a year later it was still going.
And we had at least one post almost every day. I think we only missed like 10 days, which is good for a whole year.
Then I got into a spat with Google (because they install software on your PC without your knowledge or consent), and we migrated over to this WordPress site.
Why doesn’t your site look good in [insert name of crappy, obscure browser here].
It was a conscious decision to disenfranchise you. FireFox 3.5+ or IE 8+. That’s it. Do you have any idea how much CSS is in a WordPress page and how long it takes to get compatible with your lame ass IE6 install? No thanks.
The Name SNEDblog kind of sucks…
Yes, it does. But it’s 2009. (Or at least it was when I wrote this) All the good domain names have been taken for about 10 years. It was the only variation on the theme that was available.
Your site is super awesome. Who designed/developed it?
That would be the good folks over at Seventh Street Systems. They developed the custom theme and some other super cool things behind the scenes. They are the best. Though I’m biased. One of the writers here works there.
It should go without saying that the opinions reflected on this site have nothing whatsoever to do with Seventh Street Systems. They just provide the juice that keeps the site running.
