Paprika is a spice. That much I knew. However, what I did not know is that Paprika is made from ground dried bell peppers and chili peppers.
The kind I always had in the spice cabinet was pretty flavorless, so we used it more for coloring than for flavor. But, paprika can range from sweet to spicy, based on the exact peppers it came from.

Mom always said it didn’t have flavor, but I think she just said that so we’d eat it. They use it a lot on Food Network, and I concluded from their recipes that it could be spicy. Now I want to go home and try some straight. Get the real dope, as it were.
