Occasionally I run into the CBS2 Chicago website. I think it’s a Drudge link favorite. They have these really obnoxious slideshows that I can’t seem to resist clicking on. I may seek medical attention for this problem.
Today’s is a list of Jewish Celebrities, of which there are many. I won’t list all 65. For instance, I’ll skip the obvious ones (Woody Allen, Steven Spielberg) or people who shouldn’t be celebrities (David Blaine).
Here goes:
- Zach Braff – Dude from Scrubs and more recently the voice of the talking water bottle and talking toilet paper dog.
- Harrison Ford – I think Adam Sandler outed him in his Hanukkah Song.
- Judd Apatow – Creator of Freaks and Geeks. Also a ton of recent movies.
- Jack Black
- Zac Efron – That High School Musical Kid (ed. I’m hoping including his name here generates some gratuitous HSM fan visits. I’m not above artificially padding the hit numbers.)
- Sarah Michelle Gellar – Republican Jew. Too Bad I hated Buffy, I’m starting to like her more and more.
- The Gyllenhalls – Maggie and Jake. They changed it from Gyllenhallstein when they got into show business.
- Kyra Sedgwick – The Closer. I really want to like her, but the marriage to Kevin Bacon requires hate.
- Paula Abdul – Here father is a Syrian Jew.
- Natalie Portman – The best looking actress that has never ever been in a good movie. Ever. *ed. Amended, see comments.
- Maya Rudolph – I knew there was a reason she was so funny.
- Bob Saget – So why is he so un-funny?

“Natalie Portman – The best looking actress that has never ever been in a good movie. Ever.”
I can give you a pass on Blade Runner as it really is conceptual film; but stating that The Professional is not a great movie? WTF man…WTF.
Please, what is considered a ‘good movie’ in the Book of Jeff?
And that is without getting into V for Vendetta or the always fantastic Mars Attacks.
I have to agree with Ep0pEE. I don’t think she’s a good actress, but I think she has been in some good movies.
Bob Saget is funny… just very VERY dirty.
Dirty and un-funny. Seriously dude. Do I have to remind you of the AFV voice overs.
“oh no, don’t hit me in the nuts with that bat. oh nooooooo!!”
OK- I may have to amend my statement. It seems that I cannot tell the difference between Queen Amidala and her body double.
I perused her IMDB before I made my comment, and saw Star Wars, Garden State, and a movie Called Domino One on it.
I saw Domino (with Keira Knightly) which was one of the worst movies ever (with the most un-sexy sex scene ever, BTW).
In my mind, any good from Mars Attacks was canceled out by the Star Wars/Garden State/Domino trifecta.
But I see now that my Domino/Domino One/Queen A/Queen A’s Double confusion contributed to my comment.
I haven’t seen V for Vendetta, and The Professional is listed as Léon in IMDB. I did see that and it was good.
So- I hereby retract my statement above.
She has been in a few good movies. But Domino still sucked.
And, for the record, see Ghostbusters as the pinnacle of cinematic achievement.
I can get behind Ghostbusters. It is on my top ten.
The Princess Bride, Josie and the Pussycats, Not Another Teen Movie (guilty pleasure), The Fifth Element, and Back to the Future 1 & 2.
I forgot Beetle Juice, Batman (Michael Keaton), Rushmore, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder).
