When NBC was created in 1926, General Electric held a 30% share. RCA held the controlling share. GE purchased RCA in 1986 and gained the remaining control of NBC.
When NBC started, there were 2 networks, NBC Blue and NBC Red. Eventually, through antitrust lawsuits, NBC sold the Blue network to the guy who invented Lifesavers candy, and it was renamed ABC.
The original owner of the radio station that eventually became NBC was AT&T.

the NBC jingle, the da de dum, is actually the notes “G” “E” “C”, for General Electric Company, when played on a piano.
That sounds made up! But I’d believe it…
I seem to remember a comercial about the jingle; from what I remember, adam is right. Although now that I am thinking about it, it may just have been an episode of 30 Rock.
30 Rock, aka One of the Funniest Shows ever.
(Despite Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin’s transparent liberal bias, of course)
Even Tracy Morgan can make me laugh (occasionally)
“I’m going to make you a mix tape. Do you like Phil Collins?”
“I have 2 ears and a heart, don’t I?”
